Been Away for Awhile….

So, thought I would check in for a moment….been going through some things and wasn’t sure this was the forum for my thoughts.  I know all those cliche’s life goes on and all….it’s just tough sometimes but I know everyone is aware of that so no late breaking story on that front.  Sitting at work right now and needed to just pass along a song that hit home for today.

Hope to get to the beach soon, or up for air, or just to feel normal again.  Not sure how right now to get to that point but I do know that I am strong and I am capable and I will MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!

Day dreaming today ~ Beach Bum Girl Wishes to Escape

Today is another fun filled day of papers, reading textbooks, exam and quizzes.  I however find myself day dreaming about lounging on the shore wishing I had a refreshing cocktail in my hand and a golden tan that I have managed to obtain (unlikely at this point with no outdoor time…a girl can dream) and the warm ocean breeze softly caressing my hair as the sunsets off in the distance.  My countdown is still going and I can hardly wait for the time to be finished not that I need time to rush by, way to much to accomplish until the time is up.  I do hope to manage to get in a walk with the infamous Maxwell today, he however believes it is far to hot to be outside for any period of time.  He is a smart dog.  Here is a pic of just where I would like to be, this one actually reminds me of being on the Isle of Vieques in Puerto Rico.  On this island in this particular spot just behind me is an open air bar with an attached hotel that provides the same view, it was amazing.  Maybe one day I will make it back there as well.  I have picked my house to purchase on that island as well.  Once again, a girl can dream RIGHT?!?

Back from the Beach – oh, so sad!

Well, it’s back to reality, returned from the beach this weekend.  Ten days of time in the sun and sand, with the waves and surf, and all the great weather was a well spent relaxing time.  Now it is time to return to the real world and back to work and classes start tomorrow as well.  Managed to get one class done, gotta love the pre-semester courses, 3 credits accomplished in 19 days.  Now three classes start tomorrow, two are half semester courses that also only last a month, one is a full semester.  I will accomplish completing 20 credits this semester and will be glad when it is behind me but I am going to make the most of it.  I am packing for my trip to Detroit right now, fly out tomorrow afternoon and I am finding the heaviest portion of my luggage will be the three text books I am toting along with me.

Spent a lovely day with the youngest daughter today ended the day with dinner at Fox Ridge Pizza.  Our server was wearing a t-shirt that stated “What Does the Fox Say?”  made me smile.

Maxwell has been trying to catch up on his rest, he just has too much fun at the beach much like me, and well the ride back was even more exciting for him.  He will be happy when I return to work, not so much that I am leaving him and going out of town but back to his routine of sleeping 18 hours a day makes him a calm happy boy!

Enjoy beach

So now I will be back to enduring the work and the homework, until I can return to the coast but as always I will be dreaming of my next adventure on the beach.

Here’s to living the next dream!

CupCake going on a trip….TO THE BEACH!!!!! WOO-HOO can hardly wait!

So, this beach bum girl is finally headed back to the gulf to soak up some rays and enjoy the sand, surf and well, let’s face it a bit of alcohol will be involved.  Currently cramming to get all of my class work done, this Pre-mester for summer is going to be the death of me, full course credits in 19 days…well let’s just say taking 20 quizzes in 19 days along with homework discussions and oh yeah a text book that is 687 pages long not including the appendix that is utilized for the problem sets.  Did I mention they didn’t think they packed enough in the text so they wrote on the inside of the cover in the front lots of tables and data that for whatever reason the professor thinks we should read.  Oh well, class started on May 11th and ends on May 29th, at this point I have completed 14 quizzes, and I am on a roll.   I should just relax since it’s only one class for the pre-mester I have 6 more to go this summer, but hey, I love to put myself under pressure.  Heck if I don’t do it someone else will, so it may as well be for something I am striving for….

Well back to the purpose of this post…..I AM GOING TO THE BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So excited and MAX is too, he just doesn’t quite know it yet.  His lazy self is sleeping on the floor right now next to me while I take a short break to post this since I may have fried some brain cells with the last quiz, really we need to know how much a person’s “VO2 Max” is the maximum?  Anywho, I AM GOING TO THE BEACH!!!!!!!! Can you tell I am excited…..more to come when my brain cells recover!!!!

Here’s a shot of what I dream of…..

Happy Monday everyone!

Return from Spring Break

Spring Break in Panama City Beach spending time at the beach house was a blast.  Getting back in gear with homework and work/work to start the week off right now.  Spent lots of time at the beach with the sand between my toes and the warm breeze blowing, salt air smell and the crashing waves.  There was even an awesome surf day but with no wetsuit and the temperatures of the water being so frigid I watched with envy as an experienced surfer “dude” rode the waves like a champ.

Here are a few snapshots from the trip, hope you enjoy…..

Snow Day (really it’s ice)…

So I was expanding my ADHD capabilities while at home on this lovely Ice Day.  Office is closed, school was cancelled and the internet is a bit slow so Netflix is out while trying to work, blog, google, and read.  I came across some lists of top 10 things to do on a snow day and was a bit intrigued.  I believe I will have to put some to the test today.

1.  Plan a vacation (hello, I try to do that everyday and the destination may fluctuate but essentially has a consistent theme)  THE BEACH!

2.  Work on your resume’ (why yes I do believe that is a stellar idea)

3.  Work off some pounds (I ran INSIDE this morning at 4am a total of 2 miles already….)

4.  Holiday cards (well, I must admit I have a couple delinquent Valentine’s cards to be sent)

5.  Take an online class (totally have this one covered, was emailing my professor last night and early this morning 2am)

6.  Make a snow ball stash (impossible we only have ice at my house)

So those were the ones I thought were pertinent to me, here are a few I am adding to the list!

7.  Have a cupcake bake-a-rama!  (so going to indulge in something off the wall in the kitchen today.

8.  Catch up on email (what a novel idea)

9.  Read additional chapters in your text book (glutton for punishment but it has to be done)

10.  Cook dinner for the second night in a row.  (MIRACLES CAN HAPPEN!!!!)

Still dreaming of the beach and without all this darn ice.  I want 80 degrees, a soft breeze and lots of warm, bright sunshine to bask in while listening to the lovely sound of the waves crashing on the shore.  Here’s to SUMMER!!!!

Back to School….

Time to hit the books again.  I am both concerned and excited, just want to get this semester (hopefully the last for this stage of my degree) behind me.  My books arrived at my doorstep today, and what do I do, I begin the read of “On The Edge” by Alison Levine in hopes to get my head back in a mindset that is both ready for the challenge and motivated enough to leap the hurdles in front of me.  The book seems to be a fun easy read that is inspiring all the way through.

You might ask, why on a Beach Bum Dreams blog are you writing about school and leadership inspiration.  Well, in an effort to reach my rather lofty goal of Beach Bum Guru, I know that I must sock away a nice stash during my journey. Have you seen the boat I dream for, I guess my idea of a bum and others may differ.  I want to be a beach bum that wants for nothing but can sip my favorite cocktail, fish on my boat (a.k.a. mini-yacht) live in my dream house while taking in the sun, sand and surf any day I desire….EVERYDAY!!!!!

So here’s to a toast on some ice cold, Beach Bum Blonde Ale!  With a Beach Bum CupCake to get your sugar high on with…..all before launching out on the dream boat drifting off into the beautiful sunset!
